ACCESSIBILITY POLICY
Femmes Dynamiques d’Ontario (FDO)
OUR COMMITMENT
Femmes Dynamiques d’Ontario (“FDO”) is committed to promoting an inclusive, respectful and accessible environment for all individuals, including people with disabilities and accessibility needs.
We seek to identify, prevent, reduce and remove barriers that may prevent individuals from accessing our services, activities, communications, events or digital platforms.
FDO considers accessibility an ongoing responsibility that should be incorporated into the design and continuous improvement of its services.
LEGAL AND ACCESSIBILITY FRAMEWORK
FDO seeks to comply with applicable requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA), as well as applicable standards and regulations.
FDO also considers recognized digital accessibility practices, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
For its digital services, FDO aims to progressively meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, to the extent reasonably and technically possible.
Where specific legal requirements apply to FDO, those requirements prevail over any general statement contained in this Policy.
ACCESSIBILITY PRINCIPLES
FDO seeks to promote the following principles:
dignity;
independence;
integration;
equal opportunity;
inclusion;
respect;
universal accessibility.
We recognize that accessibility needs may differ from one individual to another.
ACCESSIBLE SERVICES
FDO seeks to make its services accessible to people with, among other things:
physical disabilities;
visual disabilities;
hearing disabilities;
sensory disabilities;
cognitive disabilities;
communication disabilities;
temporary or permanent disabilities;
any other accessibility need recognized by applicable legislation.
Where reasonably possible, FDO seeks to provide accommodation measures appropriate to individual needs.
SERVICE ANIMALS
FDO welcomes individuals accompanied by service animals in areas where their presence is permitted by law.
Where verification is legally permitted and reasonably necessary, FDO may request information or documentation permitted by applicable legislation.
SUPPORT PERSONS
Persons with disabilities may be accompanied by a support person where such assistance is necessary to access FDO services or activities.
Where fees apply to an activity, FDO will communicate applicable conditions concerning support persons where required.
ACCESSIBLE COMMUNICATIONS
FDO seeks to make its communications accessible to individuals with different accessibility needs.
Upon request, we may seek to provide information in an accessible format or through an appropriate communication method.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
accessible electronic documents;
digital text;
large print;
alternative formats;
electronic communication;
reasonable communication assistance;
other appropriate measures.
FDO will work with the individual to identify an appropriate solution.
WEBSITE ACCESSIBILITY
FDO is committed to continuously improving the accessibility of its website and digital platforms.
Our efforts may include:
logical heading structures;
keyboard navigation;
alternative text for images where appropriate;
appropriate colour contrast;
accessible forms;
descriptive labels;
compatibility with screen readers;
clear content;
captions for audiovisual content where appropriate;
reducing navigation barriers;
compatibility with different assistive technologies.
We recognize that certain third-party content or services may not be fully accessible.
We work to identify and reduce these barriers where reasonably possible.
MULTIMEDIA CONTENT
Where appropriate and technically feasible, FDO seeks to make multimedia content more accessible.
This may include:
captions;
transcripts;
alternative descriptions;
accessible controls;
supplementary text content.
ACCESSIBLE DOCUMENTS
When an individual requests a document in an accessible format, FDO will seek to provide the document or an alternative solution within a reasonable timeframe.
If the requested format is not technically available, we will seek another method that enables the individual to access the information.
TEMPORARY SERVICE DISRUPTIONS
Where a service or feature normally used by people with disabilities is temporarily unavailable, FDO seeks to provide notice where possible and appropriate.
Where relevant, the notice may include:
the nature of the disruption;
the expected duration;
affected services;
available alternatives.
TRAINING AND AWARENESS
FDO encourages people working for or with the organization to develop an understanding of accessibility and inclusion principles.
Where legally required training obligations apply, FDO will take the necessary measures to comply.

FDO welcomes feedback that helps improve the accessibility of its services.

Where possible, FDO will seek to:
acknowledge the request;
